CRYOLIPOLYSIS® or Cool-CryoSculpting is a procedure which deals with the non-invasive cooling of the adipose tissue for inducing lipolysis, so that the fat cells can break down to reduce body fat that too without damaging the other tissues.

Dermatologists Dieter Manstein, MD, PhD and R. Rox Anderson, MD from Wellman Center for Photo medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston were the first ones to discover the scientific principles of CRYOLIPOLYSIS. They were also the teaching affiliates of Harvard Medical School.

From the various researches conducted by their team of physicians, they confirmed that under the carefully controlled conditions, the subcutaneous fat cell tissues in comparison to the other tissues are more susceptible towards the effect of cold.

Lasers in Surgery and Medicine

Dermatologists Dieter Manstein, and R. Rox Anderson’s initial work were published in the November 2008 edition of Lasers in Surgery and Medicine that illustrates the below points:

  • Fat cell apoptosis is caused by the exposure towards cooling through energy extraction i.e. controlled death of cells through natural methods that actually releases cytokines and inflammatory mediators that eliminates the affected cells gradually.
  • After the procedure the affected fat cells are slowly but surely removed by the inflammatory cells in some time. This procedure actually reduces the thickness of the fat layer of the body.
  • Lipids present in the fat cells are released slowly and the lymphatic system carries them out so that they can be processed and eliminated like fat from the food.

On the basis of findings from this research, investors concluded that prolonged but controlled local tissue cooling can induce some selective fat cell reduction following subcutaneous fat loss that too without harming the upper layer of the skin. “Selective CRYOLIPOLYSIS” discovery has helped in the development of patented technology in the wake of non-invasive Cool-CryoSculpting procedure.

How Long the Cool-CryoSculpting procedure takes and how many treatments are required?

Each Cool-CryoSculpting treatment procedure takes one hour for a single area. A single area of treatment is just about the size of your hand. Each “love handles” can be considered as a single area of treatment and the area of “lower abdomen” is considered as two areas.

In a single visit you can treat more than one area, but that one area must again be treated at a time i.e. two areas in just two hours back to back. In every Cool-CryoSculpting procedure of treatment, 25% of the fat cells are removed, thus the second treatment procedure is considered beneficial for most patients.

This treatment damages the fat cells that are frozen so that the body gradually absorbs them through its metabolic process so that they are actually removed from the body permanently. Results from the treatment takes over 3 to 4 months and during this period the patients usually schedule their second treatment as well.

The results are different for each and every patient depending upon their body type, age and other characteristics. Till date patients have been very contended and pleased with the results of our treatments.
